On behalf of The Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, I would like to extend to you and your escort a very cordial invitation to the Twenty Ninth Annual Arthritis Charity Ball, sponsored by the Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. This year, the Arthritis Ball will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Manor Restaurant, 42 West Boylston Street (Rt. 12), West Boylston, MA. 01583.
I am honored to announce Chancellor Michael Collins, MD of UMASS has been invited to receive the Community Service Award.
The Odd Fellowship Award will be presented to Ms. Susan Needle, Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
The Ball will commence with a social hour at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 7:00pm. Immediately after dinner, all proceeds from this major fundraiser will be presented to Mr. Steven Taylor, President and CEO of the National Arthritis Foundation.

To all Units
Independent Order of Odd Fellows Greetings:
Resolution of Respect in memory of-Jimmy C. Humphrey, Past Sovereign Grand Master, 2014-2015, who died Thursday, the 25th day of September 2025.
Once again death hath summoned a Brother Odd Fellow, and the golden gateway to the Eternal City has opened to welcome him to his home. He has completed his work in ministering to the wants of the afflicted, in shedding light into darkened souls, and in bringing joy into places of misery, and his reward has received the plaudit "well done" from the Supreme Master.
Whereas, The-wise and merciful Master of the Universe has called our beloved and respected Brother home, and he having been a true and faithful member of our beloved Order,
Therefore, Be It Resolved, that all Units of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in testimony of our loss, drape their Charters in mourning for thirty days, that we tender to the family our sincere condolence in their deep affliction, and that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family.
Done this 29th day of September 2025, in the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the 206th year of Odd-Fellowship on the North American Continent.

⏳ The Vice Grand and the Teachings of the Hourglass
In every Odd Fellows lodge, each officer plays an important role. Among them, the Vice Grand holds a very special place — the second in command, seated directly across from the Noble Grand.
This position symbolizes balance, harmony, and continuity, ensuring the lodge runs smoothly and its leadership remains strong.
The Vice Grand’s station is marked by two powerful symbols:
The Hourglass with a middle notch – a reminder of time and mortality.
The Blue Chain or Blue Collar – representing unity, fellowship, and service.
⏳ The Hourglass: Time is Equal and Fleeting
The hourglass is more than a tool to measure time — it’s a powerful life lesson.
As the sand flows, it reminds us:
Time is limited – None of us knows how much remains.
Time is equal – Each of us has the same 24 hours each day.
Time will run out – Sooner or later, the sand stops for everyone.
The middle notch of the hourglass represents the present moment, where past and future meet.
It challenges us to act now, to lead with purpose, and to spend our time wisely in service to others.
“Each grain of sand is a chance to do good before our time is gone.”
🔵 The Blue Chain or Blue Collar: Fellowship and Service
Whether worn as a chain or a collar, this symbol carries the same meaning.
It represents unity and strength:
Every member is like a link in the chain or a segment of the collar.
If one link breaks, the whole is weakened — just as discord can weaken a lodge.
Together, we form a strong and unbroken bond of fellowship.
The color blue symbolizes truth, fidelity, and loyalty — virtues that guide the Vice Grand and all members in their service.
“In unity there is strength; in fellowship, purpose.”
⚖️ A Station of Balance
The Vice Grand’s seat directly across from the Noble Grand is no accident.
It represents:
Balance and cooperation – Two sides working as one.
Continuity – Leadership ready to step forward when needed.
Shared responsibility – Every member plays an essential role in the lodge’s success.
Just like the hourglass reminds us of life’s fleeting nature, this placement reminds us to work together and make the most of the time we have.

A heartfelt thank-you to Kanawha Lodge No. 25 for hosting us so warmly in Charleston, West Virginia, and to everyone who attended, organized, and contributed to making this gathering truly special.
We also celebrate the institution of the 2025–2026 officers, including IOOF Sovereign Grand Master Thomas J. Calabrese, IARA President Pamelia M. Isenhower, and General Commanding of GMC Marion Owens Jr. Their leadership will help guide our Order in the year ahead.

Journey to the memorial of the pacific info – Excelsior Harmony Lodge Journey to the National Memorial of the Pacific
December 4-7, 2025 • Honolulu, Hawaii
Aloha, you are cordially invited to attend the First Annual Journey to the National Memorial of the Pacific (Punchbowl), hosted by Excelsior Lodge No. 1 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii. The delegation committee is pleased to provide the following information.
Our headquarters hotel will be the Hilton Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa (please note: there are several similarly named hotels in the area, so be sure to refer to the registration packet for full details).
There will be a registration table on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Friday after the wreath ceremony from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A block of rooms has been reserved from December 3 - 8, 2025, and space is limited. We strongly encourage that you make reservations early.
The wreath-laying event will be held on December 5th 2025 from 11AM to 12 PM at the National Memorial of the Pacific. Jurisdictions can order a wreath with the provided form. Transportation to the event can also be reserved.
We ask that all forms be submitted before October 1, 2025.
Participants will be able to attend Excelsior Lodge #1's 179th Anniversary Dinner, held at the Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. Suggested dress code for men is aloha wear, business attire or military uniform; for the ladies, street length dress or formal gown. Tickets for the Anniversary Dinner may be picked up at our registration table at the hotel.

A gathering started at the Grand Lodge where a tour of the museum was given as well as appetizers were served.
After a meal was served at Fellowship Lodge No. 52 accompanied by a slide show of highlights throughout history of Odd Fellowship in California. After there was a reenactment of the original Odd Fellows meeting held in Baltimore Maryland followed by a presentation on the history of Odd Fellowship as well as Outstanding Odd Fellows from California.
The night was closed out as Grand Master Dave Reed accompanied by District Deputy Mason Wolf awarded a member their 70th year Odd Fellow Jewel. 6 Comments
